The Life Of The Tree
Most people only see the finished product.
The table, the tray, the surface.
But the cycle starts long before that.
Every slab we work with came from something that took decades to grow.
Time, weather, pressure, all of it ends up in the grain.
That’s where the real value is.
We don’t try to fight the material or force it into something it’s not.
The goal is to work with what’s already there, the shape, the imperfections, the natural form.
Some pieces are clean.
Some aren’t.
The ones with more character usually show it more.
There’s a level of respect that comes with using something that took that long to exist.
Never wasting it.
Never covering it up.
And never turning it into something disposable.
Although we are still learning about better sourcing, better practices, and how to give something back to the materials we rely on. There are organizations doing real work around reforestation and responsible forestry — planting, protecting, and maintaining forests for the long term.
